Spring Showcase: The Great Give for Hamden Non-Profits
Celebrating its 14th year in 2023, The Great Give is returning May 3-4. This 36-hour, online, community-wide giving event was created by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven to raise visibility and resources for local nonprofits. Last year, thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors, the efforts of participating organizations, and sponsorships, the event raised an impressive $3.46 million for a record number of 510 local nonprofits. “Death By a Thousand Cuts” performance @ Hamden HS. Friday and Saturday night at 7pm. Sold out at Long Wharf Theater and sold out in NYC Off Broadway. Details below.

Saturday April 29
Rock to Rock Earth Day Ride (and numerous associated activities). Rock to Rock will offer a range of ride, walk, service opportunities to allow people to safely participate in a way that is comfortable and exciting for them. Link for more details and registration.
Annual Meeting for the “Friends of the Hamden Library” organization. This is a great chance to meet Melissa Canham-Clyne, Library Director. She will review recent accomplishments and reveal her vision for the library for the next couple of years, including how the community can help the library achieve its goals. 10-11:15am @ Thornton Wilder Hall in the Miller Memorial Library and Cultural Center.
1st annual Spring Fest @ East Rock Brewing. Games, local vendors, live music concert. Admission is FREE. 21+ only. Link for more details.

The Hamden Library is excited to announce a special event: Author Adam Wallenta and his son Makana will be here to talk about their award winning graphic novel, Punk Taco! This presentation will include a special drawing demo and lesson. Copies of Punk Taco will be available for sale after the event. Each book purchased will be personalized and contain an original sketch. Link to register.
Sunday April 30
Hamden Symphony Orchestra will conclude its 61st season with its Spring Concert, "Global Harmony" at Hamden Memorial Town Hall. 3pm. The all-volunteer Hamden Symphony Orchestra is made up of over 70 musicians from the community who donate their time and talents each week to make music together and for the community. Join the Sleeping Giant Park Association for the spring “Early Bird” hike. Participants will learn about some of the early migrant bird species making their way through the region, with a focus on those that use the Giant as a stopover area. This hike will be led by SGPA Naturalist, Gail Cameron, and master naturalist, Jim Sirch. Link for more details and registration.
Walk-in STEM projects @ Hamden’s Eli Whitney Museum. Free. 10am-3pm. For children ages 5-12. A museum apprentice will work with your child as they build a project and begin to experiment. Sessions last from 20 minutes to an hour. Projects change from weekend to weekend. Link for more details.
