Update on Hamden Athletic Excellence:
It’s only been ~2 months since the previous update, and yet another update is warranted because Hamden continues to excel at the youth, high school, and collegiate level of athletics. Here are the latest examples…
HHS Girls Basketball is ranked #5 in the state, and the Green Dragons just defeated #1 ranked Sacred Heart this week, and then won the West Haven holiday tournament to improve to 7-0 to start the season.
Hamden Hurricanes JV Cheer champions at national tournament in Florida.
Hamden Hurricanes 12u Football finished #3 at their national tournament in Florida.
QU Women’s Volleyball won the MAAC conference championship last month.
QU Men’s Ice Hockey currently ranked #2 in the nation.
QU Women’s Ice Hockey ranked #3 in the nation.

Hip Hop Nutcracker @ Shubert Theater. 7pm. A holiday mash-up for the whole family, The Hip Hop Nutcracker is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Link for tickets.
The A.C. Gilbert Train Show @ Eli Whitney Museum. Special holiday break hours: 12pm-4pm. Free. A Hamden holiday tradition continues. Operate trains through the model, build your own train set, take a tour of our original factory model, and create DIY laser-cut snowflake ornaments. Link for more details.

Top-5 National Matchup: QU Women’s Hockey team is ranked #3 in the nation and plays @ home vs the #2 ranked University of Wisconsin. 3pm.
Museum “Introductory Tour” @ Yale Center for British Art. 11am-12pm. Free. Join our museum docents to explore the architecture, collections, and history of the museum. The Three Kings visit the NHFPL Wilson branch @ 3pm with special guests: Movimiento Cultural Afro Continental, Inc. who perform Afro Puerto Rican Bomba. The Three Kings will also be giving out children’s gifts from the Yale Peabody Museum. Link for more details.
SMART addiction recovery program @ Whitneyville Cultural Commons. 5:30-6:30pm every Thursday. The goal of SMART is to provide quality, science-based educational tools and community for individuals struggling with addictive behaviors — and a non-theistic alternative to twelve-step programs.
