Winter Wonders: Johnson’s Duck Pin Bowling
Over six decades of fun @ Johnson’s Duckpin Bowling in the Hamden Plaza. Since 1955, they have brought the unique duck pin bowling experience to Hamden. Johnson’s offers traditional duck pin, bumpers for kids and beginners, “glow and bowl” (lights off, music, strobe/disco lights), birthday parties, pizza parties, and a variety of weekly leagues for players of all ages and abilities. Nationally #2-ranked QU men’s ice hockey begins its league tournament with a quarterfinals 3-game series vs rival Yale. 7pm @ QU’s M&T Bank Arena. Link for tickets.
Free tax filing help from Quinnipiac accounting students. Services are available to taxpayers from the Hamden area with annual household incomes of $60,000 or less. The sessions will take place at Keefe Community Center. 12-5pm. Every Friday until April 14th (except March 17th). Those who are interested may walk in - no appointments necessary. Professors from the QU School of Business will review each tax return before it is e-filed. Link for more details.

Walk-in STEM projects @ Hamden’s Eli Whitney Museum. Free. 10am-3pm. For children ages 5-12. A museum apprentice will work with your child as they build a project and begin to experiment. Sessions last from 20 minutes to an hour. Projects change from weekend to weekend. Link for more details.

March Madness!!! State semifinals for our undefeated, #1 ranked Hamden girls basketball. The semifinal opponent will be Newington HS, ranked #6 in the latest state poll. Check here for game time and venue updates from CIAC.
Tuesday March 14
Beginning March 14th, lasting for 19 sessions this spring, Hamden Middle School is offering an after-school “Healthy Heroes” program. The program is free for all students and includes (1) homework help; (2) health education about mental health, eating and activity habits, stress management, social skills, substance abuse prevention, and sexual health; (3) regular physical activity sessions; (4) healthy and balanced meals and snacks. For Women’s History Month, the New Haven Museum hosts this traveling exhibit from the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford. Featuring 12 trailblazing Connecticut Jewish women who overcame obstacles of gender, social class, and religious identity to carve their own paths, the exhibit tells stories of perseverance despite untold challenges. From women’s rights activists to artists, journalists, and health and education reformers, each overcame barriers to make changes that still impact lives today. Link for more details.
