Spring Showcase Double Feature: 4th Annual Hamden Fest & 85th Annual Memorial Day Parade
First up is the 85th Annual Hamden Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony on Monday, May 29th. And then later in the week, the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Hamden municipal government have partnered again to present the 4th Annual Hamden Fest. Saturday, June 3rd @ Town Center Park. 11am-7pm. Free parking and free admission. Check out the list of live music performances, family activities, arts & crafts, businesses, food trucks, local vendors, community services, and more… all detailed below and on the Hamden Fest website. Plus, the day begins with the Hamden Fest Half Marathon and 5k road races at 9am and 9:30am, respectively. Link to register.

Yale Pathways to Science for 6th-8th graders and their families. Open to Hamden students. Join Philippe Reekie, a Yale Astrobiologist, is about to embark on a virtual tour through our Solar System. On this trip, Philippe will introduce our celestial neighbors, describing what’s so special about them, and how we can study these alien worlds here on Earth. Get hands-on with real extraterrestrial materials and extremely rare Earth materials while we embark on a cosmic voyage. Link to register.

“Playing Images” @YUAG. 12:30-1:30pm. Free. A performance by the Haven String Quartet, accompanied by conversation, close looking at images, and a question-and-answer session. NHSO performs Aretha: A Tribute @ the Lyman Center for the Performing Arts @ SCSU @ 7:30pm. Known as the “Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin left an indelible mark on the music industry with her powerful voice, magnetic stage presence, and unwavering commitment to her craft. The New Haven Symphony Orchestra will celebrate this American music legend in Aretha: A Tribute. Link for tickets.
