Fall Feature: 12th Annual Hamden Restaurant Week
Dine local! A great opportunity to support local small businesses in our Hamden community. After several years of pandemic limitations, now more than ever is a great time to get out and try Hamden’s restaurants - old and NEW. The Hamden Arts Commission is partnering with the event to include Hamden musicians performing live at locations throughout the week. Senior Night: It is senior night for the UNDEFEATED Hamden High Football team as they face Amity HS. Kickoff @ 7pm @ HHS, but the Senior Night ceremony begins @ 6pm.
“Night Market” @ New Haven’s Orange Street Promenade. 5-10pm. Includes Greater New Haven community entrepreneurs, art, music, food, drink, culture and more. Link for more details.
Free HSA soccer skills clinics @ HMS. Led by Everson Soccer coaches. 5:30-6:30pm. Every Friday night beginning September 23. Note: these clinics are only for current Hamden Soccer Association players (all age groups).
Saturday Oct 15
Fiesta Latina community celebration of traditional and contemporary Latin cultures. 1-4pm. Link for more details.
“Highlights Tour” @ Yale Univ. Art Gallery. 2-hour interactive tour of the gallery’s history, architecture, and global collection. Focusing on a handful of objects chosen to showcase both the permanent collection and special exhibitions currently on view. Free. 1:30pm most Saturdays and Sundays during the academic year. Exploring Artism @ Yale Center for British Art. 10:30am-12pm. Free program for families with children who are 5-12 years of age and on the autism spectrum. Participants look at artwork in the galleries and create a follow-up project in a museum classroom. While the needs of individuals with autism are prioritized, it is also fun for parents, siblings, and other relatives too! Link for preregistration.
2nd Annual HSA Day @ QU Soccer. Free admission for all. On-field activities before, during, and after the QU game for Hamden Soccer Association players.

9th Annual New Haven Documentary Film Festival Oct 13-23. 116 films, four venues, panels, musical performances, and a student filmmaking competition that will blow your mind. And half the screenings are FREE! Link for schedule and tickets.
“Intro to Hiking the Giant” @ Sleeping Giant State Park. Guided hike led and narrated by SGPA. Link for more details and registration.
Volunteer Opportunity: SGPA’s Environmental Stewardship Committee helps to steward the park by removing invasive, non-native species. You can lend a hand to this important effort by joining as a volunteer. 9:30am. Link for more details.

“Around the World in 80 Beers” @ Best Video Film & Cultural Center. Free. 6:30pm. Presented by Em Sauter, an Advanced Cicerone (like a sommelier, but for beer instead of wine) and the author of two published beer books. Link for more details and registration.

“My Fair Lady” @ Shubert Theatre. 8pm. Oct 19-22. This touring production comes to the Shubert Stage where the original production of “My Fair Lady” made its World Premiere in 1956. Link for more details and tickets.

SMART addiction recovery program @ Whitneyville Cultural Commons. 5:30-6:30pm every Thursday. The goal of SMART is to provide quality, science-based educational tools and community for individuals struggling with addictive behaviors — and a non-theistic alternative to twelve-step programs. World Orchestral Premiere: Yale Philharmonia presents the world orchestral premiere of the Piano Concerto in C minor by Helen Hagan, the first Black woman to graduate, in 1912, from the Yale School of Music. 7:30pm.
