Quinnipiac wins the NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP in men’s ice hockey! An incredible, dramatic, come-from-behind win with an EPIC ENDING. One of the greatest finishes in NCAA hockey history.
Below is a collection of highlights, photos, articles, post-game interviews, etc. - all consolidated in one spot for Hamdenites and QU Bobcat fans to revel in. And here is a link to the info for the QU Celebration Rally on Monday night April 10th at 6pm.
Spoiler Alert…QU fell behind 2-0 early in the game. Grinding throughout the second period, they narrowed the gap to 2-1. And then the third period was edge-of-your-seat suspense for 20 minutes, and it came down to the wire with QU tying the game in the final 3 minutes after pulling the goalie. Finally, in overtime, the history-making epic ending - “The Play”.
“The Play” will go down in NCAA history as one of the best, ever. It is also one that will be remembered forever, as the play that won Quinnipiac its first national title.
Immediately afterward, on the ice, Bobcats’ Coach Rand Pecknold stated: "You can't put a value on what we just did for Quinnipiac University. We got a Natty.”
