Fall Feature: The Battle of Whitney Ave.
Looking for a national powerhouse Top 10 NCAA D1 team to support and follow? Look no further than right here in Hamden, where we have not one, but two options. QU Men’s Ice Hockey and QU Women’s Ice Hockey. Both are perennial powers and - yet again - both are ranked in the Top 10 in the nation.
This Weekend: One of the best rivalries in NCAA men’s college hockey, right here in Hamden. QU and Yale face off in the 2022 edition of “The Battle of Whitney Ave.” Only 8 miles apart, both programs have filled their trophy cases over many years of success. The two teams meet twice this year, with the first matchup coming this Saturday @ the iconic Whale @ Yale @ 7pm. Link for tickets.

New Haven Symphony Orchestra - A Gala Celebration. Brahms & Rachmaninoff. 7:30pm @ Lyman Center for the Performing Arts @ SCSU. Tickets start at $15 and youth under 18 are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Link for more details and tickets.

Top 10 Showdown: Our #7-ranked HHS Green Dragons travel to West Haven to face the #4-ranked WHHS Blue Devils in one of the best matchups in the state this year. Kickoff is @ 6pm @ Ken Strong Stadium in West Haven. Jump on the bandwagon to support the Dragons! (Note: this game was originally scheduled for Friday night but has been rescheduled to Saturday due to weather forecast.)

Exploring Artism @ Yale Center for British Art. 10:30am-12pm. Free for families with children who are 5-12 years of age and on the autism spectrum. Participants look at artwork in the galleries and create a follow-up project in a museum classroom. Teen Tech @ NHFPL Stetson Branch on Dixwell Ave. Stetson's “Innovation Studio” includes a makerspace, tech toys, and gaming room. Robots, gaming, 3D pens and printer, button makers, sewing, and more. Available for teens every Wednesday. 4-6pm. The Discovery Lab and Innovation Studio is Stetson’s destination for teens, and the teen lounge is an ideal spot to do homework, socialize, play games and tackle DIY projects. Link for more details.

Hamden Symphony Orchestra is excited to begin its 61st season with its fall concert, “The Sky’s the Limit.” 7:30pm @ Hamden Memorial Town Hall. The Orchestra is proud to perform this concert in loving memory of Janice (Jan) Jekel, who played Bassoon with Hamden Symphony for nearly four decades, from 1969 to 2008. The ambitious program planned reflects the hard work and dedication of the more than 70 musicians that make up Hamden Symphony Orchestra. Link for more details.
